When I'm feeling...
Firstly, let’s understand the nature of man. He/she is a spirit, having a soul & living in a body...
1Thessalonians 5:23
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Now the soul includes the very emotions which we feel...
When I’m feeling fearful….
Many people are feeling fear at this time which is natural. The primary feeling of fear is death & all others fears come from that.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
1 John 4:1
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Now fear is the opposite of faith & the two cannot coexist. Faith comes as the Bible is read, understood, meditated upon & wholly trusted as the absolute truth.
The remedy for this is to call upon Jesus & ask him to take your life & do something with it. In other words, make a decision to change your way of life by the enabling of God’s Spirit yield to Jesus Christ (God became man)
Acknowledge you cannot please God by your actions realise He took the punishment for your sins (you missing the mark) on The Cross, he was buried & rose from the dead on the 3rd day.
As you confess this to others & believe inwardly that God raised him from the dead you will become a new creation in your spirit, & fear will be cast out & will only be able to attack you externally.
Now you must take authority over your thought life & refuse to allow any fearful thoughts to settle in your mind by continuously thinking upon the scriptures above (& finding others) & speaking them aloud.(you will find it is impossible to think negative thoughts while speaking God's word!!)
When I’m feeling angry...
This is probably due to somebody taking advantage of you or someone close to you or bad circumstances. Remember because of sin no one can expect a trouble - free existence.Ephesians 4:26
Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
James1:19
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Psalms 37:8
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.
Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
From the above scriptures one can see that anger is not always wrong, but it is very dangerous if it gets out of control, leading to violence or very hurtful words.
It would be very helpful to read the whole of Psalm 37 as it encourages people not to fret & reminds of God’s justice.
A tiny trickle of leaking water can be stopped but a major break in a large dam cannot be stopped & will cause terrible consequences. A key to a successful marriage is being successful forgivers;
Remember it takes two people to have an argument!
When I’m feeling weak...
Isaiah 40:31"But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."
Ephesians6:10
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."
Put the Word of God first in your life. By that I mean carefully read it then believe it & act on it’ In this case The Word says when I stop rushing around & quietly read these verses aloud I shall have His strength. As I move in faith not looking at myself but looking to Him.
When I’m feeling helpless...
Isaiah 41:10"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
Jesus laid aside his divine nature when he took a human body and said a number of times that he did & said nothing unless directed by his heavenly Father.
This was a pattern for us to follow so that we do not rely upon ourselves but upon being totally led by The Spirit of God.
When I’m feeling lonely
Proverbs 18:24
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
The need to think about the needs of others before oneself, then one has to actually ask God to be with you. If you are a Christian the Spirit of God is within you
